TC Central Bank Parliament Member Sabri Orman started IKAM’s conference with his opening address on the topic, "The Future of Islamic Economy". In his speech, Orman started by indicating that though he is offering an opening address at İKAM and his doesn’t fall among the names for foreign academia yet he expressed his opinion that IKAM would gain an international identity through its works.
By describing his memory, he explained that he wanted to study Islamic economics in the periods he was going to start his Ph.D. studies but found it difficult to even get an acceptance for that. Expressing satisfaction with the establishment of the IKAM, Orman emphasized the need for further work in the field. Sabri Orman reflected the importance of few facts stating that; "When we look at the future of Islamic economics, we must do two things while preparing for the future. The first is the criticism process and the second is the construction process. In addition, academicians who will do Islamic studies should have lingual capabilities. If you are going to study Islamic economics, Islamic sciences are essential of minimal level. On the other hand, your knowledge of modern economic should also be sufficient."
