IKAM Postgraduate Lectures Have Started

This semester, IKAM hosts Zeynep Hafsa Orhan for the post graduate lecture series called ''Islamic Economics: Islamic jurisprudence, History and Transformations''.

The modern Islamic economy has become a scientific field since the 1976 Mecca Conference and the aim of this course is to examine this modern Islamic economy through the concepts of jurisprudence, history and recent transformations. In order to achieve this goal we will first discuss the fundamentals of Logic, and since the logic is a study of reasoning; a process by which we use evidence to judge, try to discover or persuade others of the truth, it is important to engage all the participants into a student centre discussion therefore participants will be expected to come class having done all the readings and each of the following topics will be examined throughoutly. Topics for this course are; the study of economic concepts and its relations with the history of Islamic societies and the history of thought, he formation of the modern Islamic economy and lastly the introduction of the Islamic economy in Turkey.

At the end of this lecture participants will be able to analyze and interpret the backround of Islamic economy, which has become particularly visible in the last few years, from a broad perspective and to think about possible future situations related to Islamic economics.
