Islamic Economics And Finance Graduate Programs’ Curriculum Development Workshop Held
"Islamic Economics and Finance Graduate Programs Curriculum Development Workshop" which was jointly planned by IKAM and International Research Centre for Islamic Economics and Finance, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, was held on 4 March 2017 at ILKE Association.
The workshop had leading scholars of Islamic Economics in Turkey; Ahmet Tabakoğlu, Hamdi Döndüren and Cengiz Kallek as well as Servet Bayındır, Head of the Islamic Economy and Finance Department of Istanbul University, Mehmet Saraç, Director of Center for Islamic Economics and Finance, Istanbul University Muhsin Kar, Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Yildirim Beyazit University, Süleyman Kaya, Director of the Islamic Economy and Finance Application and Research Center, Sakarya University and İbrahim Güran Yumuşak Dean, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University as guests and was also attended by many academicians working in the field of Islamic Economics in different cities of Turkey. The general situation of graduate programs of Islamic Economics both in Turkey and the World was discussed in the workshop.
Workshop’s welcome speech was given by IKAM’s president Lütfi Sunar. In his speech, Sunar talked about the importance of the establishment of İKAM, its activities and the work done in the field of Islamic economics. After Lütfi Sunar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Sarıbaş from Bülent Ecevit University and Assistant Prof. Dr. Zeyneb Hafsa Orhan from Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University gave a report on the details of Islamic economics and finance graduate curricula in the World and in Turkey respectively.
In the first half of session headed by Lütfi Sunar's, the presentation of Hakan Sarıbaş's report on the curriculum of the various universities of the world was followed by a detailed discussion. In the second session of the workshop headed by IKAM’s Executive Committee Member Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Kızılkaya, Zeyneb Hafsa Orhan’s presentation was followed by a detailed discussion by the participants about the situation of the Islamic Economics in Turkey.
At the end of the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Sarıbaş and Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeyneb Hafsa Orhan were presented with plaques as acknowledgement for their reports and contributions.
